Last block party for 2012

October Block Party Turn out

What a night at the Blairsville Cruisers end of season October block party. The sweet rides just kept pulling in with over 120 cars, trucks & motorcycles on display for everyone to enjoy. It was great to see so many people enjoying a beautiful evening in the north Georgia Mountains.

Our evening started out with the presentation of a Certificate of Appreciation presented by Tom Bruce on behalf of the club going to Dixie Hadley for all of the hard work and many hours she has contributed to the club.  From there it just got better, as Dixie presented the group of Wal-Mart
volunteers that were present with a beautiful certificate of Appreciation.  Available to receive the award was Dustin, Nancy, Paige, Michelle, Alice & Bud.  Dixie also presented Dustin King with a Certificate of Honor as our “Most Valuable Volunteer” from Wal-Mart, congratulations Dustin and thank you.  We are grateful to all of the Wal-Mart Volunteers that have helped throughout the year; you’re a great group and we thank you all and look forward to working with you next year.

A short while later we were pleased to have Ann Sullivan join us so we could present her with a $500 dollar donation to the Union County
Food Bank. We are thankful to be able to help support our community and those in need.

It was a great night for sponsor choice awards as well.  Our first award sponsored by Atlas Tops & Seats of Cleveland, Ga was presented by Tom Bruce and awarded to Ira (Sarge) & Patti Bryant with their 1988 Monte Carlo, Miss Monte. This is Miss Monte’s first award and we’re
sure there will be many more.  Our next award sponsored by Jacky Jones and presented by Chuck Holloway was awarded to Fairley Stamey and his beautiful 1936 Ford five window coupe.  Our Wal-Mart sponsor’s choice award was chosen by Wal-Mart volunteers Dustin, Emily, Isabella and Myra and was awarded to Daniel Teem with his 1958 Chevy Nomad.   Lisa from Brainstorm Creative Productions really enjoyed getting a good look at all of the nice rides and awarded her sponsors choice award to Russ & Elaine Kelly with their 1951 Chevy Pick-up.   Congratulations to all of our winners for the evening and thanks for sharing your rides with us.

Andrea O’Connor from Ellijay was our 50/50 raffle winner and thrilled to accept her winnings from club member Gary Vandergrift. This being the last block party of this season is definitely a little bitter sweet. Many club members work hard every month putting this event together so getting a few months off will be nice but we will miss not seeing everyone and all of those nice rides. We might not know everyone’s name but we know the face and the ride that goes with it and  we enjoy seeing you at all of our events. We thank you for all of your support throughout the year; your continued support helps make a difference in many people’s lives throughout the year and especially at Christmas. We hope everyone joins us on October 20, 2012 for our end of season Cruise in on the Square. Someone will either drive away or receive a call that they have won a beautiful convertible Mustang . As you know you do not have to be present to win the Mustang however for those of us on the square Saturday,
Oct. 20, 2012 we will all have an opportunity to win $500, for this you do need to be present to win. So mark your calendar, and we will see you there.
